
Violet Murunga is a Research and Policy Analyst at the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP). She has 20 years of experience designing, leading and implementing public health and development programmes in the United States and Africa. An integral part of her work is promoting, supporting and strengthening capacity for evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM). She is currently leading two projects focusing on advancing gender equity and inclusion in EIDM processes- the Alliance for Evidence and Equity in Policy-Making in Africa (AEEPA) project and Gender Data and Decision-making project. She has expertise in conducting systematic and rapid evidence reviews, gender analysis, policy and media engagement and strengthening the EIDM capacity of policymakers, researchers and other stakeholders and their institutions. She has published on EIDM capacity and practice of producers, users and knowledge intermediaries. Violet holds a PhD (Research Uptake) and was awarded the 2024 Africa Evidence Leadership Award - Evidence Producer category
