
Mutengu is Senior Programme Manager, at Science for Africa Foundation responsible for strategic planning and execution of a Pan African Science Communication and Public Engagement support programme. She has over 20 years’ work experience in patient, community and public engagement, science communication, health and development communication, policy advocacy, and bioethics in Low- and Middle- Income Countries (LMICs).
She has established programmes and led teams to identify and execute innovative engagement strategies for eight clinical trials in Africa; supported research preparedness initiatives for seven clinical research centres across 5 countries in Africa, co-developed Guidelines for conducting Adolescent HIV Sexual and Reproductive Health Research in Kenya and reviewed Good Participatory Practice (GPP) Guidelines for Biomedical HIV Prevention Research.
She is a member of the NIHR Global Health Research Professorship Selection Committee, a member of the WHO External Expert Reference Group on Patient and Public Involvement and GPP in Clinical Trials and a former member of the NIHR – GHR Centres Funding Committee.
She holds a Master of Public Health.
