
Prof Hanlin is a science, technology and innovation policy expert and has worked with African governments since 2001. Rebecca has provided STI policy advice to 18 African countries and policy or research input to various organisations, including NEPAD, UNIDO, WHO and UNCTAD. Prof Hanlin also conducts monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) work and has evaluated programmes and organisations in the UK and in the UN system. Her research spans health and renewable energy innovation and scientific capacity strengthening, and she holds a PhD in Science and Technology Studies from the University of Edinburgh. She has over 90 publications and is currently Professor of Innovation and Sustainable Development, DSTI/NRF SARChI Chair in Transformative Innovation, University of Johannesburg, South Africa.
